WNBA Excludes Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu from All-Star Three-Point Contest
The WNBA has made a surprising decision that has left fans disappointed. Caitlin Clark, the standout rookie from the Indiana Fever, and Sabrina Ionescu, the New York Liberty’s reigning three-point contest champion, will not participate in this year’s All-Star Weekend three-point contest.
Unexpected Exclusions
The league announced the participants on Wednesday, revealing that Jonquel Jones (New York Liberty), Sophie Cunningham (Phoenix Mercury), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury), Marina Mabrey (Connecticut Sun), and Erica Wheeler (Indiana Fever) will be competing. Clark and Ionescu were notably absent from the list.
Caitlin Clark is the best three point shooter in all of basketball, men and women, how the hell is she not a part of the 3-point contest.
The WNBA is consistently fumbling a generational talent. https://t.co/QS04ZmrzXv

Performance Metrics Raise Eyebrows
Clark, who is currently third in made three-pointers this season with 71, and Ionescu, who leads with 74, both have impressive stats that suggest they should have been included. Last year, Ionescu made history with a record 37 points in the three-point contest, competing against Steph Curry in a special shootout at the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend.
Recent Achievements
Caitlin Clark continues to make waves with her exceptional performance. On Wednesday night, she set the WNBA single-game record for assists with 19 in a game against the Dallas Wings. She also holds the Fever’s single-season assists record with 213 and is the fastest player to achieve 400 points and 200 assists in a single season, accomplishing this in just 26 games.
