Former President Donald Trump has called for a formal inquiry after claiming a “triple sabotage” disrupted his UN General Assembly speech on September 23.

Trump, 79, spoke for nearly an hour, criticizing open-border policies, slamming renewable energy as “destroying the free world,” and mocking London Mayor Sadiq Khan. His address also included complaints about the venue, citing a “bad teleprompter” and a malfunctioning escalator.

The Alleged Sabotage

Trump described three major issues: the escalator carrying him and First Lady Melania halted suddenly, his teleprompter went dark, and the hall’s sound system failed. “World leaders couldn’t hear a thing,” he wrote on Truth Social. Melania reportedly confirmed she couldn’t hear his speech. Trump vowed to send a letter to the UN Secretary-General and requested all escalator security footage be preserved, with the Secret Service involved.

UN Response

The UN stated the escalator stopped due to a White House videographer unintentionally triggering a safety mechanism. UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric confirmed a thorough investigation into all three incidents is underway.
