Bronny James Eyes Bigger Role in Year Two with Lakers
After a rookie season spent mostly in the G League, Bronny James is ready to step up. The 20-year-old guard is determined to prove he belongs in JJ Redick’s rotation and earn more minutes in Los Angeles.
“Year two is about showing I can compete at this level and help the team,” Bronny said. Scouts see him as a defensive spark, secondary playmaker, and pressure guard—roles similar to what Gabe Vincent provides—but with explosive athleticism and fresher legs that give him higher upside.
Challenges Ahead
At under 6’3” and shooting just 28% from three last season, Bronny faces size and shooting questions. Developing a consistent jumper and competing against bigger guards will be key to unlocking playing time.
Navigating a Crowded Backcourt
The Lakers’ guard rotation is stacked, including Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Marcus Smart, and Gabe Vincent. Bronny may split time between the NBA and G League, gaining reps and confidence. A strong showing in training camp could set him up for a midseason breakthrough—just in time for the playoff push.
