Grandparents Teach Entitled Bride a Lesson in Gratitude

What should have been a joyful wedding countdown turned into heartbreak when Jim and I received a shocking letter from our granddaughter, Sarah. Instead of sharing her excitement, she demanded $5,000 for a birthday vacation with her fiancé—mocking years of what she called “cheap trash gifts.”

Her words stung deeply. Over the years, we had given her handmade quilts, heirloom jewelry, helped with college expenses, even contributed toward her car. Each gift was a piece of our love. But her entitled demand revealed something we never expected: a complete lack of gratitude.

With heavy hearts, Jim and I decided to act. We gathered every gift we had ever given Sarah, from jewelry to childhood keepsakes, and donated them to an orphanage.
