Viral Photo of Wild Pig With Blue Fat Sparks Online Mystery

An unusual image showing a wild pig with bright blue-tinted fat has gone viral on Imgur, earning more than a million views and fueling widespread speculation. The uploader, who goes by the username “GlendilTEK,” said the animal was shot on a family ranch in Morgan Hill, California. According to him, everything about the carcass appeared normal except for the strange, blue-colored fat.

He explained that the pig wasn’t opened until after being transported on an ATV, meaning most of the blood had already drained. “No one knows why the fat looks like this,” he wrote, noting that previous pigs harvested on the ranch never showed anything similar.

Experts Weigh In

A spokesperson from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine responded light-heartedly, calling it a “Freaky Friday case,” while stressing that one photo alone can’t confirm the cause.

However, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has seen similar cases. Spokesperson Andrew Hughan explained that wild pigs sometimes ingest pesticides or rodenticides containing blue dye. “Don’t eat the meat,” he warned, advising proper disposal to prevent environmental contamination.

The ranchers plan to submit samples for testing as the mystery continues.
